**THIS DOCUMENTATION MAY BE SERIOUSLY OUTDATED, READ THE "HISTORY" FILE
  FOR UP-TO-DATE INFORMATIONS**

Here it is, a text file viewer. Just run it, and you'll see what it
is exactly. Edit UV.INI and change stuff to customize the program.
Erase UV.INI and you'll get the defaults (but UV.INI wont be recreated,
so better don't erase).

You can use it freely and give a copy of it to anyone, provided you
give all the files together. If you enjoy using it, you can send me
a little money or a CD, or something. Avoid checks, unless it is
sorta big amount (more than, say, $20), since encashing it would cost
me too much (I'm in France). Send cash, but protect it from outter
sights by paper sheets, and stuff.

Computer reviews: you CAN and are encouraged to put this software on
your cover CDs, but please do the following too:
 - Include ALL the files together and verbatim
 - Include the original ZIP archive along with the unzipped files
 - Send me a copy of your mag! 8) Show your coolness! 8)

CDROM/Disk PD distributors: you CAN and are encouraged to put this
software on your CD/Disks too, and please do the following:
 - Include ALL the files together and verbatim
 - IF YOU CAN, include the original ZIP archive. That would just be nice.
 - Uhhh...gimme a copy of your CD...8) (I can dream!)

There is a lot of bugs to correct and improvements to do. This version
is still very unperfect. Please report bugs, suggestions, etc.
Here how to contact me.

If you don't get a reply within a week, this means that I can't get my
email, i.e. modem problems, or, more likely, parent problems. They don't
like me to waste all their money into modem calls, what is perfectly
understandable. So, if you don't get a reply promptly enough, you can
call me voice. Do it ONLY if you have a reason to do it! 8) If what
you want to say is not too urgent, you'd better write me.

Ok, about the program itself. Run it (type UV at the dos prompt),
but I think you already did it. And maybe even read this file with it :)
Anyway, as the program is launched, a "nice" screen appears before your
surprised eyes. Try using the /\ and the \/ arrows on the keyboard,
moving the highlighting bar in the file selector. The > arrow gives you
the file copy menu. Actually, it is a bug, but a cool one :) I guess I'll
let him here, since it's kinda handy.
Only 48000 first lines of a text will be displayed. Guess it is enough
for 99.9% of people.

Well, the keys are pretty self describing, excepting the "Azkee viewing"
feature. Azkee stands for 'ASCII'. Why not writing 'ASCII'? Uhm...
'cause I find fun to spell it 'Azkee', that's all. Anyways, you have
maybe seen in a ZIP file, or somewhere, so-called 'ASCII Art' pictures,
drawn with ascii characters. They come from Amiga, which has a much
better system font for this use, the / \ and so, are different from
the MSDOS' one. By switching the 'Azkee viewing' on, you'll get a better
font to view them. I included one such file (PICTURE.ASC). Try to look
at it with the standart dos font in 80x25 (run MODE 80 25 at the dos
prompt before), and, after enough pain, view it with Uni-View with the
Azkee viewing turned on. "Mhhh, much better" (c) Duke Nukem 3D

Several file managing facilities are implemented, such as copying, deleting,
moving files, creating directories. Use them with care, I'm not responsible
if you wipe you hard disk using it. You did it, not me.

By the way, here's a disclaimer. I don't like writing such crap, and really
don't know how to, but here's my first attempt.

==============================DISCLAIMER=======================================
This software, Uni-View, is provided AS IS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY.
The author of this software nor MaySoft Inc, could NOT be liable for
any damage cause by use or misuse of this software. Using Uni-View
implies your agreement with this disclaimer.
===============================================================================

As for now, only the plain MSDOS or UNIX text files, those with an (CR)LF
at the end of EACH line, are properly displayed. Other can be truncated,
displayed slowly, or simply giving some weird garbage output.
ANSI's are not supported yet, but will very soon.

Hope some of you find Uni-View usefull AND USE IT! If you do,
drop me a line in email (just curious). Tell me where did you
get it, too. Also, think about uploading it just about everywhere,
BBS', Internet, Compuserve, friends, CD's. Ok, enough craptalk!

                                Cheers,

                                                Alexandre Golovanivsky
