3. Known Bugs

Some problems with cards not supporting palletized textures. Some effects are time-dependant.

4. How to fuck up a demo

After presenting a very early version of this demo in Euskal 96 (under the name of Rad) the
demo sadly crashed halfway through. We decided to start a new demo keeping some of the old
ideas, and present it in some foreign party.
It took as a whole year to implement our new vision of the demo, and we finally made it to
assembly 99.

The demo was finished twelve hours before the deadline (no, really :) and uploaded using the
Zepo system as we were told. Later on, out of boredom, we added some minimal
improvements and uploaded a new exe file (a feature supported by Zepo), specifying that
these files should be uncompressed over the old version. So, these leaves us with two files,
one containing a perfectly working version of the demo and the other one containing a newer
version of the exe.

Throughout the party we tried to contact the democompo organizers to check that everything
was okay. We were sent from one corner of the partyplace to another a few times, and
eventually gave up. One time we were even told that the democompo organizers "couldnt
be disturbed". We dont know what they were up to, but it was obviously more important
than dealing with the productions.

Finally, the demos were shown, and we were very surprised to see that our entry simply wasnt
there. We finally managed to talk to the democompo organizers, and were taken to a machine
which contained all the uploaded productions using Zepo. Our demo and the update were there,
but they were uncompressed in two separate directories. Not only didnt they follow the
instructions we gave them, but they were thick enough to run the updated exe by itself,
without the dat file. More worringly, they didnt even bother to run the stuff in the initial
zip, which contained a perfect working version of the demo. This obviously shows a complete
lack of interest by the organizers. They didnt even bother to call us (message on the big
screen, through the speakers, etc), even though the demo gives a perfectly understandable
message "dll missing, dat missing", in english, which were in the first file we uploaded.

After they realized that it was them who mucked up, they apologized but said that they were
unable to enter the demo in the compo, due to some limitation in the Zepo system. After much
talking, we got them to show it on the big screen, even though it wasn't actually part
of the compo.

To make a long story short, they fucked up two years of our work.

As a side note, the compo winners (Maturefurk\Futuremark, closely related to the party organizers)
uploaded their demo twelve hours after the deadline, right in front of our noses using the
computer right next to us (although admittedly this has nothing to do with asm org screwing things
up)

5. What is the Platipus?

	Time Room

Shows previous effects from other demos, a brief walk through our history.

	Space

Procedural planets with dynamic LOD (level of detail) system.

	Dragon

Procedural terrain with dynamic LOD (level of detail) system.
		3d volumetric fog.

	Ray Tracing

Finally our full-blown ray tracing engine is here. Not a quick hack, it allows
for pov-style defined, complex scenes. New features include volumetric objects.

	Temple+Greets

		10,000 polys. rulez.

	Girl

Strange cube thingy and nice picture by Narko. Very special thanks go to him.

6. Future

We might release a better version of the demo if we receive support from other groups. We
might then release the full sources as usual.
We rock and well definately kick some serious arse in an international party during the
	next year.

If you wish please e-mail us for moral support, we really need it at this point.
