The complete C64 music collection Jens-Christian Huus

Tunes made in double speed, 1989 and 1990.

These are the four double speed tunes I made in my time. "Drax" and especially
my friend "Msk" of "Crest" made dousins of double and quatro speed tunes with
even greater instruments. The first experiment in 1989 in player v9 ("Double
Speed") used a normal player played twice a frame, but v17.Q0 (which was used
in the other three tunes) was especially designed for quick speed use. Here the
first call was to $1003 while all other update calls throughout the frame went
to $1006. This was a great advantage since only the realtime routines had to
be updated in these calls. Thus, the CPU time used was much smaller! :)

The tunes in this directory is not directly supported by SidPlay at the time of
writing this, so you'll have to use "Fast Forward (2x)" while listening. I made
a few alterations to the three v17.Q0 players so that the $1003 and $1006 calls
are swapped every second time - to emulate the way they work on a real C64.
However, they still work perfectly on a real C64 in case you plan on playing
them there.

BRUBAKER.DAT Brubaker

This is a packed v17.Q0 tune that was made for an adventure
game ordered by a german demogroup. I also made a lot of sfx
for the game which was never finished - a destiny most of the
games I made music for suffered from.

DOUB_SPD.DAT Double Speed

This is the only tune not made in v17.Q0. It was made in v9 in
1989, some time before Jeroen Tel made his first quatro-tune
for "Invest". However, the idea was not new at that time. In
the mid-eighties Tony Crowther experimented with quatro players
in games such as "Zig Zag". This double speed tune used the
ordinary v9 player and was simply called twice a frame.

MADUPLEC.DAT Maduplec3

This is a worktune in v17.Q0 which you can load into the editor.
It is a slow tune - today, I actually thinks it sounds best if
you play it a FOUR times the speed in SidPlay instead of the
usual TWO! ;) It has nothing to do with "Maduplec" from "Buds"
                other than the name.

QUICKIE1.DAT Quickie1

Another unfinished worktune in v17.Q0 which can be loaded into
the editor v3.04 found elsewhere in this package. Note that
editor v3.04 automatically supports the quick-speed player
                v17.Q0 in "double" mode.
