corresponding button, or walk through the pages with
the left/right arrow keys on your keyboard.

To exit setup, click on the 'Ok' button or press <ESC>.

By clicking on the 'Cancel' button, any changes made
            to setup will be discarded.

The 'Save' and 'Load' buttons applies to ALL setup
            settings.

DEVICE - This is where the selected audio device
                            is shown.

PLAY KHZ - Here, the mixing frequency and mode is
                            selected.

The frequency is controlled by the
                            up/down gadgets, legal frequency ranges
                            are:

                                SoundBlaster 2.0..... 8-22 kHz mono
SoundBlaster PRO .... 8-44 kHz mono
                                                    8-22 kHz stereo
                                SoundBlaster 16 ..... 8-44 kHz mono
                                                    8-44 kHz stereo

Playback mode is toggled by clicking on
                            the stereo/mono text box.

These settings has nothing to do with
                            the Gravis UltraSound.

BIT GAIN - Bit gain is a method of improving
                            manually mixed sound.
By enabling bit gain, the sound will
get twice as loud and half as noisy.

Bit gain only works in 8 bit mixing
                            mode.

Bit gain has no effect on the Gravis
                            UltraSound.

16 BIT - If you have a SoundBlaster 16 or
compatible card, you may enable this
setting. Noise will be reduced to a
                            minimum.

This setting has nothing to do with the
Gravis UltraSound, the GUS is always
                            16 bit.

GUS FADING - When this setting is enabled, all
volume settings are faded to using the
volume ramping hardware in the Gravis
UltraSound, resulting in less or no
                            'clicks' caused by rapid volume
                            changes.

There is no known reason why this
should be disabled, but a toggle is
                            included just in case.

This setting is for GUS only.

POLY TESTER - With this setting enabled, you get 6
                            note polyphony when playing sounds
                            manually. These voices are independent
                            of the playback voices.
Used together with the 'TESTER FADE'
setting, it's great for 'playing along'
                            with a song.

This setting is for GUS only.

BPM TEMPO - This setting controls the ability to
respond to BPM tempo settings. With
this setting disabled, the only way
to control the tempo of the song
                            internally is through the SPEED
                            setting.

There is no known reason why this
should be disabled, but a toggle is
                            included just in case.

MULTI=POLY - With this setting enabled, the poly
tester mode is toggled with the 'MULTI'
toggle on page one, instead of with the
                            'POLY TESTER' toggle in setup.

This setting is for GUS only.

SONG LOOP - With this setting enabled, the song
will restart from the beginning when
                            finished.

TESTER FADE - With this setting enabled, sounds
played manually will stop on note off.

            'System' setup

for you, but you may want to change it.

SOUNDS - This is your SOUND or SAMPLE base path.

The install program will initialize it
for you, but you may want to change it.

CHANNELS - This is where you set the number of
sound channels to be used. Legal range
                            is 4-16 channels.

                            This setting is non-destructive, it
will not destroy any sheet data.

This setting dictates the number of
channels that can be edited, played and
                            saved.

SAVER WAIT - The number in the window represents the
                            number of seconds the screenblanker
will wait before starting. Legal range
                            is 10-900 seconds.

The screenblanker may be turned on/off
by clicking on the on/off textbox.

CAREFUL - With this setting enabled, some
                            operations will ask your permission
                            before executing.

ERROR BEEP - With this setting enabled, the PC
                            speaker beeps on errors.

XMS SWAP - When shelling to DOS, all samples must
be moved from conventional memory to
a buffer either on disk, or in
extended memory. If this setting is
on, extended memory will be used. If
you don't have enough extended memory
or if this setting is off, the samples
                            will be moved to disk.

FAST TIMER - When this setting is enabled, all
                            cosmetic timer-dependent stuff like the
volume meters and the blinking cursor
will work a bit faster. This setting
has nothing to do with the program
                            clocks or the system timer.

            'Edit' setup

The 'edit' setup page looks something like this:

QUANTIZE - This number represents the number of
sheet rows to jump when editing the
                            sheet. When recording, entered data
will be inserted at the nearest row
                            that is dividable by <quantize>.

Quantizing may be toggled on/off by
                            clicking on the on/off textbox.

MULTI ROW - This setting enables you to control
the channel jump path when 'MULTI'
mode (button on page 1) is enabled.
'01 > 02' means 'when at channel one,
jump to channel two after data is
                            entered'.
Use the up/down gadgets to change what
channel to jump TO. Use the left/right
mouse buttons on the small dotted
button to wander up/down the path.

KEY - This setting lets you redefine the
                            entire piano key map.
                            'C-1 = C-3 / 01' means that the REAL
C-1 is mapped to C-3 and will always
                            play sound 01.
Use the up/down gadgets under the
                            settings to change them.

'SPLIT' mode (button on page 1) has to
be turned on to enable the map.

Read about the 'KEY PROG' function in
the 'Page 1' documentation part for an
even easier method of programming the
                            key map.

REC SONG - This setting makes sheet recording
go through the whole song instead of
                            just the current sheet.

JUMP RIGHT - This setting makes the edit cursor
jump RIGHT instead of DOWN during
                            sheet editing.

REC SYNC - With this setting enabled, sheet
recording will wait for the first
                            entered note before starting.

            'DeskTop' setup

The 'desktop' setup page looks something like this:
