            Questions and answers

This documentation part contain answers to some of the
questions I have received, which I think may be of
            interest to you all.

Q: I want SBStudio to play music in the background
under Windows. What must I do?

A: Make a PIF file for SBStudio with the settings
'low graphics', 'full screen' and 'background'
               enabled. Run it.

Q: When I run SBStudio with GUS sound under Windows,
the music just stops after a few minutes and I have
to restart Windows to get SBStudio to play again.

A: It sounds like your GF1 IRQ is set to a low IRQ.
Select a high IRQ for your GF1 IRQ, and the problem
               should be solved.

Q: When I load something in SBStudio, the message
'GUS does not respond' appears. What does it mean?

A: It sounds like you have a DMA conflict in your
computer. Select new DMA channels for your GUS, and
               the problem should be solved.

Q: When I try to play a 16 bit sample on my
               SoundBlaster 16, nothing happens!

A: SBStudio doesn't support playback of 16 bit samples
with SoundBlaster cards. If you want 16 bit sound,
               buy a GUS.
16 bit sounds can be converted to 8 bit by using
the '8BIT' function on page 2.

Q: I have a SoundBlaster PRO with a MIDI connector,
but i can't get MIDI to work in SBStudio!

A: The SoundBlaster 2.0 and PRO cards can't control
MIDI and play sampled sound at the same time.
Use a SoundBlaster 16 or a GUS if you want MIDI.
