#coders 256 byte firecompo - readme

What was it?
------------
This was an internet coding competition to code the best fire effect under 256
bytes. The goal was NOT to make the smallest fire program, but to make the
BEST fire under 256 bytes. Any type of fire fx was allowed, just as long as it
looked like a fire!

Who chose the winner?
---------------------
There were no "judges", the winner was chosen by voting over the internet
Voting packs containing all the entries and a voting interface were
distributed. Voting consisted of picking a first, second and third place,
then emailing the vote to me.

How did the voting work?
------------------------
For each entry, the number of 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place votes it
recieved were counted. From this a point score for that entry was calculated
using the weighting below:

1. 1st place = e^2 = 7.389
2. 2nd place = e^1 = 2.718
3. 3rd place = e^0 = 1.000

The entry with the most points won (duh) *8)

What prizes were there?
-----------------------
No prizes! this was a compo held for fun and the coding challenge only *8)
Having no prizes resulted in a clean compo without cheating, fake votes, or
commercialism!
