Welcome to Movement'98 information text. Movement is the yearly
gathering of the demo sceners and multimedia creators in Israel.
This is the forth year we hold the event and, as usuall, we keep
it bigger and better every passing year.

This text might not be final. The most updated source is our web
        site at http://www.mov98.movement.org .

Another good place to get news on the event is Coders F/X BBS at
        +972-(0)-7-675-8537 / 3224.

      Ŀ
                          ==  WHERE AND WHEN?  ==

The event will take place in Ashkelon, Israel. We'll be located at
the city exhibition hall Beit-Haa'am, in a similar setting as last
year. The hall is in a commercial center called Afridar and it is
      very easy to reach.

The party will start at 12:00am on the 15th of December (Tuesday),
and will end at 12:00am noon on December 17th (Thursday). All of
      these days are HANNUKA holyday.

The party place is very easy to find. You can either walk yourself,
get a bus or a taxi (available from the central bus station).

       Ŀ
=== HOW TO GET TO THE PARTYPLACE ===

There are 3 ways to reach Ashkelon. You can either come by car,
public transportation (bus / taxi) or from the sea. Here is a
       brief explanation for each way.

       Public Transport
Contact your local Egged Information for details and timetables.
Buses from Tel Aviv departure to Ashkelon about every 20 minutes.
Line 311 is the Express one, while 301 and 310 have a long route.
Once you'll arrive to Ashkelon central station take bus no. 4 and
ask to get down at Afridar center. It will be a 5 to 10 minutes
ride. If you carry equipment with you (computers, sleeping bag
etc.) you'd probably prefer to rent a taxi. It shouldn't be
expensive and it is way more comfortable.

       Driving your car
There will be signs directing you from the entrance of the city,
but here are directions anyway: When arriving to Ashkelon keep on
driving straight with the main road entering the city. After some
junctions you'll come to a junction with a fountain on the right.
That's where you should turn RIGHT. Keep with the road through
another junction and turn LEFT at the next turn. Again, keep with
the road of another minute until a T junction and turn LEFT. Find
       a parking place, you're there.

       Arriving from the sea
Ashkelon enjoys an excellent marina, which offers regular docking
facilities and services. Please, contact the organizing for exact
information or visit the marina's homepage at:
       http://www.ashkelon.gov.il/marina.html

       Ŀ
                        ===  PARTY FEATURES  ===

These are some of the features of Movement'98

       _____Main Hall_____
The setting is similar to the event last year. Most of the major
events are taking place in the big hall, where everybody sits
together, work, talk, have fun and watch the compos on the big
       screen.

       _____Sleeping hall_____
5 minutes walking from the main hall, you have the sleeping hall,
where you can open your sleeping bags and sleep during the night.
The place is airconditioned n' hot showers are available both for
male and for female. The sleeping hall will open at evenings and
will close at noon. During it's activity it'll be secured by our
       security personnel.

       _____Audio and Video_____
The audio system is being set by a professional sound man to
feature full stereo through out the hall. The big screen size is
4m X 4m and the projector supports high resolutions.

       _____Food and Banks_____
Since the party place is located in one of the city's centers,
everything you need is just outside the doors. Pizza, pubs, banks
and groceries store are all only seconds away.

       _____Showers_____
Hot showers are located in the sleeping room.

       _____Parking_____
A lot of parking space is available, however it IS a center n' so
quite crowded. Also, keep in mind the police will have a strong
presence in the area cause of the event, so park legally.

       _____Party Network_____
There is going to be a party network (LAN) at the event. However,
you need to bring your own network card with you. This is what you
       need to get connected:

1 Network card. We support both BNC coupling and RJ-45.
2-3 m' piece of cable to connect you.

For any questions regarding the network, please email Yosi Taguri
(yosit@writeme.com), the head of the Net Crew.

       _____Internet_____
Everyone connected to the network will also be connected to the
       Internet, just like last year.

       _____E-Zine and Live reports_____
During the party we'll have the E-Zine Crew reporting live on the
internet from the party place. All the compo products, interviews
with people, pictures from the place and various reports would be
on the web, as well as a live camera.

       _____Registering and Voting system_____
The party will be computerized using ZEPO, a system by Flemming
Frendsen (aka Dion / SWAMP). The system is in use on big parties
like Assembly (Finland), The Gathering (Norway), Summer Encounter
(Denmark) and others. It'll handle registration, voting, products
management, results, slides for the big screen, voting on the in
intranet and others. This year you'd be able to vote from any
computer connected to the network through our live web site.

       * Flemming is currently looking for Delphi coders to help him get
the system even better. Please email ff@writeme.com for info.

       _____Products Release_____
Groups that will want to fix their products before final release
may do so until the 16th of December (2nd day), after notifying
the organizers. ALL the releases will be marked as PARTY VERSION
and will be uploaded to MOV'98 outposts during the party. If any
of the groups or competitors wish to release a final version
anytime after the party, they are welcome doing so on their own.

       _____Party Outposts_____
Due to hornet.org closing, we have reserved a place at scene.org
(www.scene.org). Zepo, the party registering and voting system
will automatically pack compo products and they will be uploaded
on scene.org right after each compo.

Of course, CODERS F/X BBS will carry all the products, too. The
BBS phone numbers are 07-6758537 or 07-6753224. Use a telnet
program or a DOS based software to call it, as it's based on ANSI
       codes.

       _____Live Performance_____
On the second day (16th) we'll have a live performance outside
the main hall, on the grass. We hope for a nice wether.

If you have a band or any artistic show you want to preform at the
       place, please contact the organizers.

       Ŀ
                         ==== WHAT TO BRING ? ====

_Basically, you can just come as you are. Nothing is mandatory._
_However, from understanding the event and from our past years_
_experience, here is a short list of things that will make the_
_event what it suppose to be - Fun: _

1.Money for the entrance ticket (Unless you have a Pre-order).
         2.A sleeping bag.
         3.Your computer.
4.A network card and some cables (if you want to go on the net).
5.Some food and drinks or money to buy them near by.
6.fresh cloths (Hot showers are available every day in the
           sleeping room) .

       Some notes:
HOTELS - Last year some of the attenders had slept the nights at
hotels, rather then sleep in the joined sleeping room. If you wish
to do so as well, you may contact the hotels directly to book a
room in advance. If you did not book in advance you may want to
talk with the organizers at the InfoDesk during the event for
       details about accommodation.

COPMUTER - Bringing a computer is not mandatory, but it CAN make
the difference. We have a lot of activities that requires you to
use a computer at the party n' not having one can exclude you from
taking part in those activities. Also, bringing a computer isn't
so hard. If you're comming in a car or a taxi, it's not a problem.
If you come by bus, have one of your friends take care of the
screen box while you take care of the CPU unit box. Keyboards and
mice can be placed in a backpack.

_You have to bring your own network card and drivers. We will not_
_have any company selling them on the place. Our network supports_
_both BNC and RJ-45 (Twisted Pair). _

        Ŀ

       competition they judge.

"Maximum running length" below is only the amount of time we will

       course, can be longer.

       compilation CD-ROM.

The organizers reserve the right to disqualify a production

has that issue inside. It can be a picture, music, application
