Fast made shit couz ive just returned to portugal and been through
96 mails.. humm, i think i owe an apology to the people who made
the haujobb intro for ltp3. I had seen a double sized preview at
some other places and reviewed that assuming certain things. The
haujobb intro did win ltp3 but that is not the point, the surprise
factor was killed and i let people knew what was in store before it
happened, besides of also beeing a very arrogant review which only
does bad to the makers of the intro. Big sorry to nytrik, hellfire
and the rest of the crew behind the intro project.
                                                                           ps

=====! demo !==================================================================

        "origin" by astroidea
        1st place at antiq99

        The demo:
It's a rather simple demo. 5 3d scenes.. It starts with the view of
a planet from outter space, typical demo music starts picking up as
the planet rotates showing the light source and some small logos
        give credits.
The camera zooms in on the planet and enters the ground level in
a very smooth way, we are on the outside of a pyramid, some flares
are entering a small portal on one of the sides, the camera follows
the flares into the portal, the camera travels in somekind of tube
with a light beam in the middle and some blocks rotating around it.
A few prespective changes later the camera arrives in a bigger hall,
a bigger tube swirls with some lights comming out of it as the sounds
        echo and blocks swirl around.
A short scene showing a beam comming out of some sort of machine
and the camera cuts to the outside, a big bang is held and the top
of the pyramid explodes as the beam bursts out.
The camera lines with the beam and we are in for another trip,
stars and meteors whizz by as the camera swings around, for each
meteor that passes we get a big swing on the sound. The demo ends
simple, a meteor hits and a big Astroidea logo is shown followed by
        a final pic.

        The music:
Typical demo music. A very trippy sound track, something between
        bleeps and psychedelic trance.
The sound effects are the thing that really makes the demo come to
life. If you have a card that supports 3d-surround you get some
really good and well synced sfx to go along with the music. The
beams, whizz by of blocks and meteors, the burst of the pyramid, its
really something else with a real sound bang going along with it!

        Worth the download:
If you have a 3d card then yeah. If not i wouldnt advise since it
        needs one.. (windows opengl coding)
Its really one of the few things worth downloading from antiq. Abit
disapointing the party, this demo fixed things abit but not quite
        fully...
                                                                           ps

=====! intro !=================================================================

        *strike*

        im too sleepy for this!

=====! music !=================================================================

Negative cycles - IT version (MP3 also available)
	Genosha
	www.kosmic.org
	1999

In the beginning it sounds like older stereoman, ambient
flat sound, looped background melody, bassdrums and more
percussion and then the main melody, sample sounds a bit like
from Buzz (tracker), than low sound (like cello but less freq
full) and man voice sample (Genosha himself). It's a bit like
music by stereoman but more ethnical. Genosha writes it is
inspired by Orbital's "Impact" and that is the reason I thought
on Stereoman - his music is also very Orbital influenced.
7:19 gone, could be 1 minute shorter. After hearing it 5 times
I still think it's good and the length doesn't seem to be
	a problem longer.

	and all that remains
	prymer
	scene.org - tdr#118
	1999

First Mp3 release under tdr label. I like this Dnb track,
because it has that "I've heard this already" feeling.
Drums are supported by organ with metallic sound, strings,
flute with Arabian sound, voice samples, some trumpetish
sound and bass of course. Instruments are played in the style
which is typical for a lot of tdr releases - not overused,
only to evoke the right atmosphere. You can also hear that
there's a reason why it's in mp3 and because it has a low
bitrate of 56k, you get 6:15 of music in only 2megs.

	------ Summer Encounter'99 winners -------------------------------
Any of the following tracks is not 'must have', but they are good
and in my opinion they're worth listening (at least the winner).
I've also heard the entry by Xhale but he doesn't leave his style
and starts to be boring with it.

1st place Miranda in Orbit	by Starfish

The first thing you notice is the organ which is played as very
short sound and the bassline. This in combination with 4/2 tempo
makes the sound of this tune. The drum track is made of drumloops
supplemented with additionaly tracked drums. Result is realistic
sound that keeps space for variation. This reflects in the style
which I would call "trance with dnb influences". It's pitty that
in the beginning of the song I could easily guess what will
follow up to 20 seconds forward. Also in the end part are some
voice samples which abuse me a bit. Overall I quite like it and
I seems to be a rightful winner.

	2nd place	Spotlight by Notion/Unity

Echoed sounds, bass guitar and drums. Than normal guitar starts
the ballad with oboe lead, which gets a bit heavier sound at the
end. Sounds a bit like from Leviathan and a bit like by A.Brandon.
I only miss a catchy part in the lead that would lead me to
listen it again. A bit short, but good.

3rd place	Alien FuckFiesta	by gainx

Sounds like from sonar introduce track in some goa trance style.
Some parts sound like "Syratrippen" by Norfair with other samples.
Gainx writes it was whole done at the party, so don't expect
something super complex with tons of samples, and because it's
near to	Norfair's track don't abuse yourself by downloading this
one if you already have "Syratrippen".

                                                                       tryhuk
