      3.0 EXPORTED CONFIGURATION LANGUAGE
      -----------------------------------

      To maintain compatibilty between versions of D'Brdige, an "exported
      configuration language" has been established as a means of upgrading
      without losing parameters. When a new version is installed, D'Bridge
      will import the configuration from a file called DBRIDGE.AUT.

      Following is a syntax chart of all the keywords used in the current
      software version:

      4.0 MESSAGE STORAGE STRUCTURES
      ------------------------------

      D'Bridge can use three completely different storage methods to store
      EMAIL messages on disk. These particular methods were chosen for
      compatibility with popular bulletin board systems. Following are
      the file-structures used by D'Bridge for EMAIL message storage:

         FIDO

         When Fido-style storage is chosen for an area, a dedicated sub-
         directory will be created. This directory will contain one file
         for each message stored. The format for the filenames is:

            <message#>.MSG    ie. 1.MSG, 2.MSG ... 9999.MSG

         Following is the Turbo-Pascal definition of the .MSG file format:

            FIDO_message = record
              msg_from,
              msg_to         : array [1..36] of char;
              subj           : array [1..72] of char;
              msg_date       : array [1..20] of char;
              times_read,
              dest_node,
              orig_node,
              cost,
              orig_net,
              dest_net       : integer;
              date_written,
              date_arrived   : longint;
              reply          : integer;
              attributes     : word;
                            (* Bit 0    Private
                                   1    Crash
                                   2    Message read
                                   3    Message sent

                                   7    Kill/sent

                               any length, terminated with a null (0) byte *)
            end;

         QUICKBBS

         When QuickBBS-style storage is chosen for an area, messages are stored
         in a 5-file database designed by Adam Hudson. The file-formats are
         defined in the following Turbo-Pascal definition:

            MSGHDR.BBS     QuickBBS message header file

            QuickBBS_header = record
              message_number,

      5.0  D'BRIDGE FILE STRUCTURES
      -----------------------------

      Following are Turbo-Pascal or text-file definitions of the data, history
      and control files used by D'Bridge. These structures are subject to
      change in future releases...

         AREAS.BBS

         Each file area where requests are allowed may have an AREAS.BBS file.
         This contains single-line descriptions of each file and will be sent
         back to the requesting system in the file-request "status" message.
         This is a text file of one record per line with the following format:

         <filename> <description>

DA(m)N NEWS 1-04                   Str. 9                    9 Dec 1993

         AREAS.TXT

         This file contains a list of possible ECHOmail conferences and their
         respective descriptions. In the Fidonet EMAIL network, a file called
         FIDONET.NA defines all the ECHOs available. Rename FIDONET.NA to
         AREAS.TXT to use it with D'Bridge. The file is used to automatically
         add descriptions to the ECHOmail areas when the are auto-added. The
         following format is used:

         <area tag> <description>

         CALLER.INF

         When D'Bridge receives a function-request, it writes a text file
         called CALLER.INF in the current directory. This file contains
         the following information about the caller online:

            <address>
            <system name>
            <system operator>
            <inbound files directory>
            <key number>

         COMM.CFG

         This file contains the modem/communication parameters. The file-
         structure is as follows:

         COSTING.XDC

         Every night at midnight, D'Bridge creates an exported costing file.
         This file is designed for compatibility between versions or to send
         costing data to another system. This is a text file that contains
         a header line and two kinds of data lines. A typical costing entry
         looks like this:

         start in column 1. The next lines contain the actual costing data

         DBRIDGE.FRS

         The file-request limit file tracks file-requests for a 24-hour period.
         DBRIDGE.FRS is a text file with one line per record in the following
         format:

            Field                            Starting column
            ------------------------------------------------

            FILE-REQUEST COUNT                      57

         DBRIDGE.HIS

         D'Bridge uses this file to track outbound XMAIL filenames:

           node_history =
             record
               NH_ADDR : EMAIL_address;
               updated : date;
               xmail_number,
               bad_connects : integer
             end;

         DBRIDGE.LRQ

         For QuickBBS, DBEDIT stores the LASTREAD pointers in this file:

            Quickbbs_lastread = record
              username  : string[36];
              last_read : array [1..200] of record

            end;

         DBRIDGE.MEH/UEH

         This is the mail-event (unevent) history file:

           event_history =
             record
               key : string[16];
               tries,
               sessions,
               bad_sessions : integer;
               temporary_hold : boolean;
               connect_time : longint;
               was_reset : string[3];
             end;

         DBRIDGE.PTR

         Both the ECHOmail and NETmail scanners update this file for QuickBBS
         storage method. In order for D'Bridge to know where it left-off
         scanning, the following text file is used:

            <high QuickBBS record> <first QuickBBS NETmail message>

         DBRIDGE.REE

         This file tells the ECHOmail scanner which conferences and systems
         to use for a RESCAN of designated conferences. This text file has
         the following format:

            <ECHO tag> <address> <priority>

         DBRIDGE.TRM

         The terminal-mode parameters are stored in this file.

         The D'Bridge "wisdom control file" may contain a customized message
         to be displayed upon startup. This replaces the standard definition
         that appears in the box at the bottom of the screen when the system
         is coming online.

     This file may have 1-13 lines of text, 65 columns in width.

     This option only works for systems with .KEE license keys.

Title: Using the Gupta SQLRouter for NetWare SQL v3.0
                with Gupta SQLWindows v3.1
Document ID:    TB.A.0001
Date:           October 16, 1992
Product:        NetWare SQL
Product Version:v3.0
Supersedes:     N/A
Symptom:        N/A

Issue/Problem
-------------

Some components of Gupta SQLWindows v3.1 do not support the Gupta SQLRouter
for NetWare SQL v3.0.

Prerequisite
------------

Before proceeding, obtain NetWare SQL v3.0a, a patched version that
includes updates to the NetWare SQL Requester for DOS. For information on
obtaining the patch, contact the Novell Services Line at 1-800-NETWARE
(1-800-638-9273), or 1-801-429-5588 outside the U.S., and ask for the
Developer Support Group.

Solution
--------

Use the following procedure, which replaces the SQLAPIW.DLL and ERROR.SQL
files in Gupta SQLWindows with files from NetWare SQL. This procedure also
updates the SQL.INI file, which Gupta SQLWindows requires. During this
procedure, refer to the following NetWare SQL v3.0 manuals for more
information:

- "Installation and Operation"
- "Gupta SQLRouter Installation and Operation"

NOTE: These instructions refer to default installation directories. If you
       specify a directory other than the default, substitute that directory
       where appropriate.

1. Install Gupta SQLWindows v3.1 as described in the Gupta documentation.

2. Go to the \GUPTA directory and make a backup copy of the following files:

CORE OPERATING SYSTEM

Q:   The file server (containing an IBM Token-Ring 16/4 Adapter/2 and 16MB
     of RAM) ABEND's with a GPPE when loading TOKENBM.LAN. How can I fix
     this?

A: Add the "Set Auto Register Memory Above 16 Meg = OFF" parameter to the
     STARTUP.NCF file and reboot the file server. This will return the
     message "384K of memory will not be used," which is only an
     informative message. This message means that the file server had
     384KB of memory addressed above 16MB; however, it will no longer be
     used.

Q: Recently, my older, almost full ESDI drives have been deactivating.
     Why does this happen, and how can it be resolved?

A: This problem has been seen with older, almost full ESDI devices,
     because the device is not responding quickly enough to error
     conditions. The ISADISK driver has been changed to allow for a longer
     waiting period for the drive to respond. The driver is contained in
     ISA311.ZIP found on NetWire NOVLIB 04.

Q: What is the difference between Private and Global VDMs? How do I set
     them up?

A: Global VDMs allow DOS to share the OS/2 login connection. Drive
     mappings and port captures are shared, and any changes to one session
     affects the other session.

     Private VDMs allow DOS to have a separate login from the OS/2 login.
     This allows each session to have its own mappings, port capturing,
     etc. Each VDM allows for only one DOS login, so if more than one DOS
     login is needed, multiple Private VDMs must be used.

     If more than eight concurrent sessions (OS/2 and DOS combined) are
     needed, the modifications listed below need to be made to the NET.CFG.

          NETWARE REQUESTER SESSIONS <number>

               (default=8, replace <number> with a value between 8
               and 20)

          PROTOCOL STACK IPX SOCKETS <number>

               (default=32, replace <number> with a value between
               32 and 128; three sockets per added session above
               eight)
DA(m)N NEWS 1-04                   Str. 27                   9 Dec 1993

     To set up VDMs, make the changes listed below in the DOS SESSION
     NOTEBOOK.

     PRIVATE SUPPORT

          DOS_LASTDRIVE            E
          NETWARE_RESOURCES        PRIVATE
          VIPX_ENABLED             ON

          When opening the session run NETX.EXE, found in the NETWARE
          subdirectory (a special NETX designed for use with the VDM), move
          to the F: drive and log in to the network.

     GLOBAL SUPPORT

          DOS_LASTDRIVE            Z
          NETWARE_RESOURCES        GLOBAL
          VIPX_ENABLED             ON

          Do not attempt to log in from this session. The login should be
          made from the OS/2 session or desktop, or from NWTOOLS.

     NO NETWARE SUPPORT (used by applications with no network awareness,
     such as single user)

          DOS_LASTDRIVE E (if using Private VDMs)
                              or
                                   Z (if using Global VDMs)

          NETWARE_RESOURCES        NONE
          VIPX_ENABLED             OFF

     Other properties in the DOS SESSION NOTEBOOK would be used to fine
     tune the DOS session. Refer to the OS/2 documentation and Chapter 8
     of the NetWare Requester for OS/2 v2.0 manual for more details on
     using the DOS SESSIONS NOTEBOOK.

Q: What can I do if RPRINTER loses its connection or hangs when running
     under Windows?

A: Use VIPX.386 found in WINUP7.ZIP on NetWire under the NOVFILES forum
     to fix this problem.

Q: MS-DOS 6.00 does not work with the new NETX v3.32. How can I fix
     this?

A: The two ways to resolve this issue are described below:

     1. Type the following statement at the command line:

               setver <path>\netx.exe /D

          This statement removes NETX from the SETVER table.

     2. Do not load SETVER.EXE in the CONFIG.SYS.

DA(m)N NEWS 1-04                   Str. 28                   9 Dec 1993

          WARNING: This prevents any other programs
          from using the SETVER utility.

Q: How can trustees and bindery information be transferred from one
     server to another?

A: Use NBACKUP to complete the steps below:

     1. Select "Backup By Directory" from the "Backup Menu."

     2. Change "Backup Binderies" and "Backup Trustees" to Yes.

     3. Enter *.* and * for files to exclude.

     4. Leave all other options at default.

     To restore this information to another server, make sure the server
     you are restoring to has the same server name as the server that was
     backed up. Then restore as usual.

Q: DOS 6.0 is seen as DOS 5.0 when I log in to the network. How can I
     fix this?

A: Delete NETX.EXE from the SETVER table by issuing "SETVER
     <path>\NETX.EXE /D" at the command line.

Q: When the server is mounting the SYS: volume, the message "Problem with
     file q_xxxx.srv: TTS file was not changed" is displayed. What does
     this mean, and how can I prevent it?

A: This message is informational only and will not appear after a new job
     is sent to that queue. The XXXX corresponds to the first four
     characters of the print queue ID, which can be obtained from PCONSOLE,
     "Print Queue Information", "Queue Name", "Print Queue ID". This
     message appears when a server is brought down abnormally, because
     Transition Tracking System (TTS) may need to back out the transactions
     in each queue that was in the process of being executed when the
     server went down.

Q: While running Intel's LANPROTECT.NLM 1.53, the times and dates of
     files are being changed randomly. This version of the NLM was
     supposed to fix this; however, I am still having problems. How can I
     fix this?

A: LANPROTECT.NLM 1.55 resolves this problem. This file is available on
     Intel's BBS 503-645-6275. Choose the following menu items to download
     the UPGRADE.EXE file: "download," "network," "lan management," then
     "lanprotect."

Q: The error "NLM could not be found" is returned when loading an NLM
     from the hard drive of an IBM Model 95 with IBM SCSI controllers.
     Then, after shutting down the server and typing "EXIT" to return to
     DOS, the error "Invalid command.com" is returned. Why is this
     happening?

A: If the SCSI ID for the bootable device is set to something other than
DA(m)N NEWS 1-04                   Str. 29                   9 Dec 1993

     6, what IBM expects, these problems will occur after NetWare is
     loaded. To resolve this problem, physically set the SCSI DEVICE
     (containing the DOS bootable partition) to SCSI ID 6. Then, run the
     Reference Disk to ensure that the software configuration for the SCSI
     channel reflects this change.

Q:   When installing VLMs from WSDOS1.EXE, WSWIN1.EXE, and WSDRV1.EXE, I
     get errors related to missing MSG files. How can I fix this?

A: Use the syntax "C:\WSDOS1 -d" when executing the self extracting
     files. When executing these files, the information below will be
     displayed:

     **************************************************************

     To be sure all files are extracted use the "-d" option. (e.g.
     <Filename> -d)

     !!! By extracting the FILES, You AGREE to these TERMS AND
     CONDITIONS....
     **************************************************************
     Do you want to extract these files now (y/N)?

     At this point, a user can answer "N" and start the process
     again.

Q: After upgrading to VLMs, I cannot run the 4.0 DOS utilities (such as
     NETADMIN.EXE or NETUSER.EXE) How can I fix this?

A: Increase the FILES= statement in the CONFIG.SYS to 50.

     It was common, previous to VLMs, to set FILES in the CONFIG.SYS low
     and FILE HANDLES in the NET.CFG high. The FILE HANDLES statement is
     no longer valid with the VLMs, so FILES need to be increased for the
     DOS utilities to load.

     Note: The International UNICODE files are new to the DOS and Windows
     utilities. These extra files require FILE HANDLES to be increased.

Q: VLMs and Windows 4.0 support drivers were just installed on a
     workstation. All other workstation's not yet updated receive a number
     of error messages causing Windows (running as a Network version) not
     to load.

A: To work around this problem, complete the steps below:

     1. Create a subdirectory under the network Windows
          directory.

     2.   Copy VIPX.386 and VNETWARE.386 from WINUP7.ZIP (NetWire
          under NOVFILES forum) into the above created directory.

     3.   Edit each workstation's SYSTEM.INI (386 Enh Section) to
          reflect the new path for VNETWARE.386, VIPX.386 and
          NETWARE.DRV. For example, if the subdirectory was named
          NEW, the example below shows the syntax to add the path
DA(m)N NEWS 1-04                   Str. 30                   9 Dec 1993

          for the new files to the 386 Enhanced section of the
          SYSTEM.INI:

               network=*f:\windows\new\vnetbios,f:\window\new\
               vnetware.386,f:\windows\new\vipx.386

          This allows the NetWare v3.11 virtual drivers to be used
          instead of the NetWare 4.0 drivers.

Q: Can I upgrade from NetWare 4.0 Beta to NetWare 4.0 Released?

A:   No.

Q: The following error messages may occur during a 4.0 CD-ROM
     installation:

          "Error loading NETMAIN.IL$"

          "Cannot find file NETMAIN.IL$"

          "Invalid version of NETMAIN.IL$"

     What causes this, and how can I fix it?

A: This problem occurs when the CD-ROM and the drive where NetWare 4.0 is
     being installed are attached to the same controller. When the NetWare
     disk driver is loaded, the DOS driver is overwritten and the CD-ROM
     connection is lost. The NetWare 4.0 Release Notes (found under the
     \DOC\ENGLISH\NW40\README directory on the 4.0 CD-ROM) describe six
     ways to work around this problem.

      (c) 1992, 1993 K + K computer engineering, Obl 20, 625 00 Brno

Co je TVDM ?
Turbo Vision Dialog Maker je program pro interaktivn nvrh dialogovch
oken, uren programtorm pracujcm s objektovou knihovnou Turbo Vision
pro Turbo Pascal 6.0, 7.0 a Turbo Vision pro Borland C++. Umouje nvrh
jakhokoliv dialogovho okna se standardnmi objekty Turbo Vision i s
jejich potomky. Vstupem programu je vygenerovan zdrojov text, kter lze
snadno zalenit do Vmi vyvjenho programu.

Pro TVDM ?
S pchodem Turbo Vision dostal programtor pro svou prci aplikan rmec,
kter odstranil podstatnou st programovn, tkajcho se uivatelskho
rozhran. Tvorba uivatelskho rozhran aplikace v podstat pedstavuje
skldn hotovch, pedem pipravench prvk a ppadn doprogramovn zmn
oproti chovn standardnch objekt. Pi tvorb aplikace v Turbo Vision
vak zhy narazte na velk problm - i pouh skldn dialogovch oken z
hotovch objekt je mimodn pracn zleitost. Pi runm nvrhu
dialogovch oken mte nsledujc dv monosti:

Tou prvn je pout k nvrhu tverekovan papr a tuku. Tato cesta je
pomrn rychl a schdn, ale jen do okamiku, kdy je nutno udlat
jakoukoliv podstatnj zmnu. Potom se z Vaeho nvrhu stv nepehledn
zm ar a je nutno zat kreslit znovu.

Druhou monost je navrhnout dialogov okno "od oka" a pak cestou
mnohonsobnch oprav a nslednch rekompilac doshnout sprvnho vsledku.
Pi tomto zpsobu prce ovem strvte nad nvrhem sloitjho dialogovho
okna nkolik hodin, pro C++ tato monost vzhledem k rychlosti kompilace a
zpsobu tvorby projektu spe nepichz v vahu.

Protoe ani ns pi vvoji aplikac Turbo Vision pedchzejc monosti
neuspokojily, rozhodli jsme se vytvoit vvojov prostedek pro nvrh
dialogovch oken - Turbo Vision Dialog Maker.

Jak vhody pin pouit TVDM ?
Turbo Vision Dialog Maker umouje programtorovi rychl a efektivn nvrh
dialogovch oken ve vizuln podob - co vidte pi nvrhu, to dostanete v
hotovm programu.

Jednotliv objekty (TButton, TInputLine....) je mono interaktivn vkldat,
mazat, posouvat, mnit jejich velikost a zadvat jejich parametry. Je t
mon zmna Z - poad objekt, take nejste omezeni poadm, v kterm

objekty vkldte. Ji v prbhu nvrhu jsou objekty "iv", t.j. chovaj se
zcela shodn se standardnmi objekty Turbo Vision. Pesun a mazn objekt
jsou velmi urychleny monost oznait celou skupinu objekt a tu pak
spolen pesouvat i mazat. Pi nvrhu je mono mt souasn oteven
libovoln poet nvrhovch oken. Pokud potebujete pout objekt, kter
jste ji dve vytvoili, nen nutn zadvat jeho parametry znovu, ale lze
s vhodou pout funkce pro penos objektu i cel skupiny objekt mezi
okny - Cut, Copy a Paste.

Prosted programu je pizpsobeno pro maximln efektivn vyuit myi pi
nvrhu - uveme napklad mazn objekt zavleenm do odpadkovho koe i
vkldn objekt prostm zavezenm odpovdajc ikony na pslun msto
dialogovho okna.

Program neomezuje nvrh dialogovho okna pouze na standardn objekty Turbo
Vision, ale umouje Vm definovat libovolnho potomka nkterho za
standardnch objekt. Tento potomek se me od standardnho objektu
odliovat jak syntax konstruktoru, tak i pouvanm datovm typem. Dky
tto monosti lze generovat zdrojov text pro libovoln objekty bez
jakchkoliv nslednch prav.

Pro rychl pehled o pouit horkch klves v aktulnm dialogovm okn
slou dialogov okno Mapa horkch klves. Toto okno pehledn zobrazuje
pouit jednotlivch psmen jako horkch klves. Psmena jsou odliena
rznmi barvami - nepouit psmena jsou ern, pouit bl a duplicitn
erven. Pro nalezen voln hork klvesy sta vyhledat voln psmeno v
map horkch klves.

Mnoho asu pi nvrhu lze uetit pomoc vestavnho makrozznamnku. Ten
Vm umouje zaznamenat opakovan innosti (nap. editaci asto

 deklaraci implicitnch hodnot dialogovho okna. Vzhledem k tomu, e
  nvrhov dialogov okno je "iv", lze nastavit jeho parametry prostm
  vepsnm textu do dk, nastavenm pol CheckBoxes atd. Program tyto
  nastaven hodnoty sejme a vygeneruje deklaraci implicitnch hodnot ve
  form inicializovan promnn nebo procedury.

 seznam pouitch konstant. Program vygeneruje seznam pouitch konstant
  (nap. Help context) ve form deklarace, do kter sta doplnit patin
  hodnoty.

 text vlastnho dialogovho okna v jedn z nsledujcch podob:

   Dialogov funkce - vrac ukazatel na vytvoen okno
   Exec funkce - spust dialogov okno, ped mu data a po
    ukonen je pevezme zpt
   Insert procedura - vlo dialogov okno do Desktopu a ped mu
    data
   Resource procedura - ulo dialogov okno do resource souboru

basedev=ibmint13.i13
REM basedev=print01.sys Remove REM if print01.sys used

Note that print01.sys is not used. This means that printing is not
supported from this floppy. If used be sure basedev=print01.sys is
in config.sys.
REPLACE PRINT01.SYS with PRINT02.SYS if PS-2

The basedev=ibmint13.i13 should support just about any hard drive
I believe and this has the smallest size. It is smaller than the
os2scsi.dmd which also supports SCSI but is not required.

If installing High Performance File System the following should
be in config.sys and the files on the floppy
IFS=HPFS.IFS  /CACHE:64 /CRECL:4   129090 bytes
IFS=CDFS.IFS /Q                     40292 bytes
I am not sure the CDFS.IFS is required if CDROM not used.
In any event when these are added to the floppy it does require
a 1.44 MB floppy.

===============================================================================

         MS DOS 6.0, DoubleSpace, 2MB ponechan na HOST disku

When you compress an existing drive, DoubleSpace leaves approximately
2 megabytes free on the host drive. This space is reserved for files
that DoubleSpace needs when rebooting during the compress-in-place
(CIP) process. The following files are stored on the host drive during
the CIP process:

   COMMAND.COM
   DBLSPACE.BIN
   DBLSPACE.EXE
   DBLSPACE.HLP
   DBLSPACE.INI
   DEFRAG.EXE

DoubleSpace also stores copies of the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
files on the uncompressed portion of the host drive as follows:

   AUTOEXEC.000
   CONFIG.000

Note: If there are already AUTOEXEC.000 or CONFIG.000 files on the
host drive, DoubleSpace uses 001 for the file extension. If that
filename is used, DoubleSpace uses 002, and so forth.

DoubleSpace uses these files if you restart your computer during a CIP
process. These files are also used when you create a new DoubleSpace
drive or change the size of an existing DoubleSpace drive.

The unused portion of the 2 megabytes of reserved space is used during
the CIP process.
