                          Composers Competition I

Announcing a new music competition for aspiring composers - Composers
Competition I. Following last year's music competition, a newer, better,
and broader competition has been devised. If you are a module composer,
whether it be on the PC, Amiga, Mac, etc, we want to hear your talents!
Together with other composers throughout the world, your entry will be
judged on its originality, sample quality, and the song's overall
composition. Don't worry that you'll be outclassed by other composers
in the competition - many of the top entries received in the previous
competition were done by first-time composers! And don't worry that you'll
be competing with any of the world-famous Competition judges, as they'll
be judging, and not competing in the Competition.

This competition is setup mainly to locate new talent, we encourage all
first time composers and all other composers as well to enter this contest.
dont let the judges scare you! there all here to help find all the worlds
                               best composers!

   Composers Competition I The Rules

 1. We can only allow one entry per Composer.

 2. Your submission cannot already be released into the public, or in any
demo, intro, music disk, compo etc. It must be first distributed
     through the Composers Competition I.

 3. If the entry is done by a group, no one group member is allowed to enter
another entry separate from the group. We recommend that if you are also
personally planning on entering a composition, do it by yourself, and not
     as part of a group.

 4. The Module format can be one of the following:

        Suggested Formats to use:

MOD: can be in 4, 6, or 8 channel format, and must play
correctly with Pro Tracker compatible player.
MTM: Must play correctly on Multitracker v1.01b
FAR: Must play correctly on Farandole v0.94

These Formats may also be used:

669: Must play correctly on Composer v1.3
                S3M: Must play correctly on S3MPLAY v0.9b
STM: Must play correctly on DMP v2.82
ULT: Must play correctly on Ultra Tracker v1.5

 5. The maximum uncompressed length of the module cannot exceed 400k.

 6. The file SUBMIT.NFO (included in this archive) must be completed and
     included in your song's archive.

 7. Your module (and the archive it is enclosed in) needs to be named _1*.*,
where *.* is your file name :

      Examples:
                _1sting.mtm
                _1sting.zip

                _1myfile.far
                _1myfile.zip

7a. Your archive may not contain more than 4 files, one being the
           module another the Submit.nfo file.

7b. If possible, please edit and use the your_id.diz contained in this
archive, and then rename it to file_id.diz for distribution with
           your entry.

7c. Other than the module itself, any other files contained in the
archive can only be a text or ansi advertisement.

 8. Once the file has been uploaded to one of the official drop off sites (see
the bottom of this file) no changes or other alterations can be made to
any files in the archive. If duplicate entries from the same composer are
received, the *OLDEST* one will be the one that is judged.

 9. All entries must be on one of the official drop off sites before May 15th,
1994. Any entries received after this date will not be considered.

 10. If your entry archive is corrupt or for some other reason is unable to be
uncompressed, it will be excluded from the compo. For this reason, we
suggest using either PKZip v2.04g or Arj 2.41.

 11. Absolutely no "remixes" or previously released modules that have been
modified will be accepted into the Competition.

 12. If the winner is out of the United States, "The Winner" will pay all
shipping, Taxes, any costs incured etc for sending the prizes to you.

If any of the above rules are not followed your entry will be declined.

Composers Competition I Judging the Competition

The Judges panel will consist of the following people
                       (groups in alphabetical order) :

    Judge Affiliation

  Mr. Etch Black Design

  Abyss Future Crew
  Purple Motion Future Crew
  Skaven Future Crew
  Darkness Imphobia/Cascada
  NIC Imphobia/Cascada
  Zodiak Imphobia/Cascada
  Rob Butler Music Connection
  C.C. Catch Renaissance/ICE
  DareDevil Renaissance
  StarScream/Daniel GoldStein Renaissance
  Alexander Poelma Witan
  Jendrik Posche Witan

The entries will be judged on four topics:

                         Topic Scale

                         Overall 0-20
                         Originality 0-10
                         Composition 0-10
                         Samples 0-10

                         Total 0-50

In the event that any of the top three modules have a tie score, the winner
will be determined by which has the highest value for the "Overall" portion of
the score. If these tie (unlikely, but possible) the winner will be determined
comparing the other portions of the entries' score from "Originality" down
to "Samples" and so on until a winner is determined. If the modules in
question are perfectly matched in their scores (in which case they cannot be
judged according to the above rules) then a panel of three judges will hold a
run-off between the modules until a winner is declared. These judges are :

    Judge Affiliation

  Mr. Etch Black Design
  X-Static/Chris Tompsett Digital Oxygene
  Rob Butler Music Connection
