Release 2, Opus 3 - 08/06/97 - "The Two Become One"

While the first release of the VRB was a melody that had been in
my head since 1984, only -half- of this one is >grin<; the second
melody. The first one came to me only recently to fit with the
other one, and this song ultimatly meshes the two. It didn't
come to me until I was in the middle of writing the last section
that these two melodies become more than the sum of their parts
when they come together. Sure, some parts of each are changed or
missing, but you don't dwell on that. Rather, what -does- come
out is a harmony that the two couldn't create on their own.
Hence, the title "The Two Become One", in a reference to the
Biblical idea that marriage is a blend of two melodies,
compromising along the way, but doing what they could not do
apart.

Solos feature E. Bonnie Avery on keyboard and Kenneth W. on
saxophone.

This tune was entered into Music Contest 5, sponsored by the
Hornet Archives crew. It scored in the 11-20 place bracket out
of 105 Rookie entries. Not bad, for an old guy. :)

Greets:

Big Jim / Five Musicians - I mercilessly tore a sample from your
fantastic piece "(Dreaming of) Foreign Skies". Only took one
string from the guitar, though. You can have it back, now that
I'm done with it. :)

Basehead / Five Musicians - I'm -not- in my 40s, I'm only 35.
Trust me, when you arrive at this point, you -won't- be saying
"close enough". :) However, I'm pretty sure my presence in MC5
-did- raise the average age of the composers by a full 2 years.

Skaven - A tip of the hat from an old guy who's a rookie to a
young guy who's a veteran. Strange how this scene works, eh? :)

The Hornet Crew - Thanks so much for organizing, programming and
running the Music Contest. I'll probably never make an on-site
compo, so your work is greatly appreciated.

...and greets to The Weasel, wherever you are.
