     [ I. OPENING WORDS ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

You are now reading the updated information file for the WiRED 1995 party.
This year, aswell as the party itself, the WiRED team expended quite a lot
as IMPHOBIA and some members of TFL-TDV joined forces with ANTARES in the
   organising team!

We want the WiRED'95 party to be a really special event! WiRED has to be
an event that you scene people will not forget. WiRED '95 will be a SCENE
event, it will have all the advantages of a real scene non-commercial event
   mixed with high competition prizes.

     [ II. WHERE AND WHEN ? ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

   Date : Friday 3 to Sunday 5 November 1995
Place: University Of Mons-Hainaut (Grand Amphithtre)
	   Mons / Belgium

The Party place is located in the middle of a great town called Mons and
is only at 5 min. of the commercial center. You won't have any problem
to find the place as we will mark the way into the city from the railroad
   station and the highway exit.

If you want to know more about Mons (Places to go, Hotels, Restaurants,
etc...), you are free to call the Tourist Information Office of Mons at :
   +32-(0)65-360464.

BEWARE: In Belgium we have *TWO* different national languages and cities
names aren't always indicated in both languages. As a consequence thereof
you should know that the dutch translation of MONS (french) is BERGEN. So
if you don't find MONS on the indicators, don't stress... and look out for
   BERGEN.

[ III. THE ORGANISER STAFF IS ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

Vincent Dupont (White Tiger/Antares - Coder)
Arnaud Stouffs (WildCat/Antares - Graphic Artist)
Pascal Vandersteegen (Cobra/Antares - WHQ SysOp)

	      Samuel Fiorini (cSurfer/TFL-TDV - Coder/GFX)

It's important to note that we are all scene members. This makes us able to
understand problems you may encounter while attending YOUR Party. Yeah,
WiRED is YOUR Party ! This is why we ask you to feel free to contact us if
there is something you want to tell/ask us. We will be extremely glad to
answer your questions and receive your critics about some of the choices we
have made in the party rules.

[ IV. WHAT WILL IT COST ? ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

We have tried to make the entrance fee as low as possible.

There is 2 ways to get in :

  - As a scene member : You have the right to take part to all competitions
and get a free table, electricity and Party Network access.

Price : 600 BEF (With a Table, Electricity and Party Network Access)

[Note: Notice that we did raise the entrance fee from 500 BEF to 600 BEF,
which still is far from being as high as in most other parties. The reason
for this little change is that, by choice, we decided not to accept one of
the sponsor we had in the begining in order to keep the WiRED concept like
  we wanted it to be.]

  - You are a girl : it's FREEEEEEEEE.

    Price : 0.000 BEF

We do only accept payment in BEF. So make sure to change some money into
this currency before arriving at the party place.

     [ V. COMPETITIONS ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

 * GENERAL RULES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

  - The organizers reserve the right to make changes to the competitions
rules and to disqualify any entry which is not suitable to take part into

		   multichannel per Coder/GFX/SFX.
  - The competitors MUST be present
(for group productions, at least one member per team)
  - All entries must be delivred IN TIME at the information counter near the
entrance or in the Contribution directory of the Party Network. This is
very important if we want to have enough time to show all contribution.
  - All disks must be marked with the following information: Computer, Compe-
    tition, Competitor Name/Group, Boot Config.
  - It's simply impossible for us to return the contribution disks.
  - You will be allowed to vote for the 3 best in all competitions on PC/C64
  - It's up to the organisers to decide if there is enough competitors in one
    category to make a competition.
  - For demos, only 100% VGA Register level compatible graphics mode and VESA
1.2. If you use special VESA modes (like the one supported by the latest
UNIVBE), your demo must still run on standard VGA Card, it's up to you to
decide if you will adapt the effect or if your demo can skip the part (of
course it may be shown on the big screen with the graphic mode you want).
  - If your demo still requires any interaction, we want ONE people of the
    competing in the Control Room.
  - All entries for the PC intros (4k and 64k), Gfx and Music competitions
will be spread by the organisers after the party.
  - For the PC demo competition entries, it's up to you to tell us if we can
release or not your product at the party place. You will have *ONE* month
after the Party to finish and release your product, else we will spread
the party version. (we won't make any exeptions). Immediate release could
be done throught the Party Network (see WiRED Network).

 * PC DEMO COMPETITION

  - We will run the demo on a 486DX2-66 Mhz

640x480 ! Using a too high resolution won't damage it but will produce a
    garbled screen.

If you use special VESA modes (like those supported by the latest UNIVBE),
bring your own boot disk for drivers. BUT it must ALSO be able to run on
a standard VGA card. It's up to you to decide if you adapt the effect for

  - Available Memory configuration :

connected to the bigscreen (but not ON the bigscreen) before we show them
to the audience. But please don't come just before the deadline...

     [ VI. VOTING SYSTEM ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

The Pc demos and Pc 64k intros competitions entries will be judged in two
differents ways. There will be a public voting that will count for 60% and
a jury voting composed of well know and respected scene people that will
  count for 40%.

All the other compos will be judged by a public voting (100%).

     [ VII. PRIZES MONEY ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

We, the organisers won't make any money out of the party. Unless some other
so called parties which are based on the money, we are organising the WiRED
party because we want to make a quality _non commercial_ party and want to
keep a real scene spirit in it. All the money left from the entrances fee,
after we remove our costs, will be used for the competitions prizes. As we
can't say exactly how many people will attend the party we can't make an
estimation but considering many people said they will attend, one can guess
it's gonna be much. The prizes money will be based on percentages of the
entrance money, the percentages will go like this:

Pc Demos Pc 64k Intros Pc 4k Intros

	  1st place: 12% 1st place: 8% 1st place: 7%
	  2nd place: 10% 2nd place: 6% 2nd place: 4%
	  3nd place: 7% 3nd place: 5% 3nd place: 2%

Music 4 Channels Music 4+ Channels Gfx

	  1st place: 7% 1st place: 7% 1st place: 7%
	  2nd place: 4% 2nd place: 4% 2nd place: 4%
	  3nd place: 2% 3nd place: 2% 3nd place: 2%

Those percentage don't include the prizes money for the Raytraced movies,
the Raytrace graphics competitions and the Ansi competition. We can't pre-
view the prizes that will be given for those compos because we can't know
if there will be many entries and what will be their quality. It wouldn't
be good to give a lot of prize money for a stupid logo moving on the screen
(clich) while it wouldn't be good either to give a very small quantity of
prize money for a high quality animation and the same goes for the Raytrace
Graphics and the ansi competition, but if the quality is present, the pri-
  zes will be adequate.

We will also receive additional hardware prizes from other sponsors.

As for the C64 demo competition, the prizes will depend of how many C64
people will attend the party. ALL the entrance fee from the C64 people
attending will be used for the competition. The percentages will go like
  this:

				1st place: 45%
				2nd place: 35%
				3nd place: 20%

Cash prizes will be paid in Belgian currency.

ALL PRIZES will be given during the PRIZE CEREMONY at the end of the party.

[ VIII. SOME OF THE PARTY FEATURES ]ķ
                    ķ

    [ IX. WiRED'95 OFFICIAL PARTY T-SHIRT ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

In most of the respectable demo parties, some Party T-Shirt are sold to the
visitors, but most of the time those T-Shirt are undesigned, only black and
white and are sold for a very huge prize considering what they're worth of.

We wanted to make a WIRED 95 party T-Shirt, but wanted it to be special and
worth the prize. The WiRED 95 will feature:

  - HIGH quality graphics in FULL COLORS designed by PL/IMPHOBIA
  - A3 size for graphics (30cm*30cm)
  - Very CHEAP selling prize (cheaper than in any other parties)

     [ X. WIRED PARTY CD ]ķ
                    ķ
                                   Ľ

We had a certain arrangement with a CD producer/company in order to make
a WiRED 95 Party CD, but as we couldn't come to an arrangement which
we think would fit for a party like WiRED, we decided not to accept the
offer that company made to us.

[ XI. WIRED PARTY NETWORK ]ķ
                    ķ

As more and more people are equiped with a network card (generally an ether-
net one), we might setup a party network. If you don't have already a Net-
work card you would be able to buy one with a connectivity Kit at the Party
Place for a VERY fair price.

IT IS OF COURSE NOT NECESSARY TO BE CONNECTED TO ENJOY THE PARTY, COMPETE,
  AND RELEASE SOME STUFFS...

The goals of this network would be:
  - Providing some additional way for us to contact you.
  - As we will create a directory for each group, you will be able to put all
your products on the Server Harddisk (2 Gigs) and let other people take
    them.
  - IRC Like Group Chat.

Network specification: - Server: 486 with 2 Gb HardDisk
			  - Novell Netware / TCP-IP
			  - BNC Only (unless you setup your own HUB)
